Travel is like age, doesn’t stop

“All the pathos and irony of leaving one’s youth behind is thus implicit in every joyous moment of travel: one knows that the first joy can never be recovered, and the wise traveler learns not to repeat successes but tries new places all the time.” – Paul Fussell

We at Sabili Tours would like to thank you for traveling with us in 2013. It was a pleasure planning for you, hope you will travel with us next year. You can check out our page here.

the intelligence of elephants,

irrelevant ,but eloquent,

their clumsy sort of elegance

is one of many elements.

and when that wisdom elevates

its hard to celebrate

for once we see our cells relate

the cells start to accelerate

well wisdom seems aristocratic

dusted down from someone’s attic.

pulled apart and cleared of static

(fluctuations are erratic)

for how we trace the web life spins

parts swept away like bowling pins

still, consciousness ,our human prints

will never match the elephants.

We at Sabili Tours are lovers of animals and nature. Find out more about us here.

DAY AS AN ELEPHANT

Being an elephant has its ups and downs. They are valuable for their tusks which makes them an easy target for poachers. Other than that they will literally stop people in their tracks to stare at their massive size and trunk.

MoodwsingsPregnancy is another down considering their gestation period is over 22 months!! If they had mood swings like pregnant women, am sure the death toll would rise for over 2 years, with people being trampled here and there.

Family

These animals love to live in groups of 4s and 5s with relatives sticking together. Nothing like appreciating your family and taking care of each other.

Multi-talented

Did you know an elephant’s trunk is used for breathing, smelling, caressing, drinking and grabbing objects?? The sensorimotor abilities of the trunk are extensive, allowing delicate manipulations similar to a primate’s finger and thumb.

Thermostat

If only humans too could control their body temperature, it would help with this hot weather! Elephants flap their ears to reduce their body temperature. When an elephant is alarmed, it fully extends its ears so stay away quietly!!

Now, who wants to be an elephant in their next life??

Heartbeats

“And what did I think
when I was small
and why did I forget?

And what else will I forget
when I grow older?

And if you forget
is it as if
it never happened?

Will none of the things
you saw or thought or dreamed
matter?”
Sharon Creech, Heartbeat

Roads by Barry Van Allen

I have traveled down the road of many vices,
I have traveled down the road of fractured dreams,
I have traveled down the roads of lovers leaving,
and I have traveled down those roads enough, it seems.

I have traveled down the highways of injustice,
and traveled on the highways of deceit,
I have traveled down the many roads of doubt,
and traversed too many roads of ‘ incomplete ‘.

I have driven on the turnpikes of destruction,
and I have rested on the sides of these at night,
I have traveled down the roads of wrong selection,
and I have known the fear that comes with needless
fright.

I have ventured down the highways of reflection,
and gazed upon the pathways of despair,
I have traveled down the road of self-deception,
and found, that in the end …
nobody really cares!

In all my aimless travel,
I have found it to be true …
that no matter what you think you know,
… there always is a different point of view!

You won’t know what the world has to offer till you see it for yourself. Come travel with us this festive season… Contact us here.

IT’S TIME

It’s that time where children are out of school and they are running up and down and tearing the house down. Also that time where the day is so hot you just want to strip and lie around naked doing nothing.

It’s time to dip your toes in the water and wade in to feel the sand beneath your feet as you walk further away from shore. It’s time to let go and float in a pool and just let the water wash your stress away.

Time to pretend you’re a dolphin and sip cold drinks all day on the island as you lie by the water. Time to explore and forget your responsibilities, you can do that next weekend. Take some time off and come explore Ssese Island with Sabili Tours. You can book yourself a trip on our page here https://www.facebook.com/sabili.tours.uganda?fref=ts.

This is a trip you won’t forget with a boat cruise, bonfire with live music and memories you can’t buy. See you there.

IF HOME IS BEST….. THEN WHY TRAVEL?

I dislike feeling at home when I am abroad (George Bernard Shaw)

So we like that feeling of being at home doing nothing but nothing. You know…., lying in the couch and feeling tired cause you haven’t done anything and have no plans of changing that. But we also like to travel. Leave our lives and all the clutter behind and have a fresh start somewhere away from home. We reinvent ourselves and choose to be a glamorous traveler with everything and nothing going on.

You could be the office ninja and fixer who juggles everything and makes it work. The office is on break now, so it’s time to take a holiday. Forget about problems, schedules and deadlines and come with Sabili Tours to Ssese islands this weekend. It will be every bit worth the time off and for once, other people take the reins and organize everything for you.

A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles (Tim Cahill)

Pack all your friends. Trips are much funner in large numbers. Besides how else will you know if you like your companions unless you take a trip with them and then figure out how to get along? Shared memories always make for the best conversations with friends. It’s definitely going to be a trip to reminisce about….. Think bonfires and boat cruises. Picture opportunities for instagram and great profile pictures are just a trip away.

When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half   the clothes and twice the money (Susan Heller)

Most importantly, come ready to have a good time. The boat cruise is a great place to start with the speed and thrill of being on water. Bonfire while listening to live music is the spark of romance you might have been missing. We are staying at Mirembe Resort. It’s definitely going to be a weekend worth remembering and great way to end your year.
